“At present, public school education is partly a training in class prejudice and partly a sort of tax that the middle classes pay to the upper class in return for the right to enter certain professions”
George Orwell, 1941 (English “public” schools are private schools)

#Texas Gina Hinojosa (D) is running against MAGA Abbott for Governor.
When she wins the election, on her first day she will fire Education Commissioner of the Texas Education Agency (TEA), Mike Morath, who has caused enormous damage to public education.

This is so insane. Public education needs a massive boost, not cuts. Almost all non-gov schools are religiously affiliated in some way- why are we outsourcing education to religious orgs? Education is compulsory- we should have pride in and strengthen our secular public schools, not undermine them.
Labor during the election: “we’ll fully fund public schools”

Labor after the election: “actually we meant private schools soz”

Unis are no longer institutions of education & learning, they’re corp sausage factories owned by big business, with capitalist ideology expected to be central to all depts!
Used to be that businesses trained their workers (except professions), now they’ve shifted the cost onto taxpayers & students.
Exclusive: After months of denial, the University of Technology Sydney has been forced to hand over a “master excel spreadsheet ... of academic staff members that are not meeting research expectations” created by KPMG as part of a $100 million restructure. satpa.pe/XRmHHZ9

Your regular reminder that every year the Australian people subsidise private schools to the tune of $22 billion while the public school down the road from you will be waiting another decade for its bare minimum funding.

This is the stupidest policy ever. Aside from the grotesque inequity of it, it'd just encourage every taxpayer to send their kids private to minimise or eliminate their taxes. Imagine being able to send your kids to a $20- $50,000 school and having the fees deducted from your tax bill. Insane.
Private school fees are currently GST free, and now the Libs want to make them tax-deductible??
