Botrydium granulatum
These are single-celled, multinucleate, yellow-green algae with a rhizoid extension that attaches them to the mud. Its surface can have tiny calcium carbonate crystals.
It often forms a flush across damp mud in response to a nutrient pulse associated with drying and rewetting.

An evaluation on contribution of organo–metal complexes to enhanced soil CO2 release during drying–rewetting cycles using buried humic horizon soils - Progress in Earth and Planetary Science
Under global warming, precipitation is becoming less frequent but with more intense events, with little change in total precipitation amounts. These shifts have raised concerns about drying–rewetting ...

An opportunity? Yes! Scary? Yes! I saw the opportunities of rewetting our peatlands (www.climatechangepost.com/news/rewetti...), but I didn't think of rice.

But just as long as the results of rewetting bogs and planting native tree species are excluded, eh?

Drained peatlands cover 2% of EU farmland but produce 80% of agricultural GHG emissions. At the #ALFAwetlands #REWET Final Conference, a new policy brief showed why rewetting can cut emissions, restore biodiversity and store water! 🔗 Link below.

The £79m for trees and local nature recovery is a sensible response to this summer's drought. It would go further if land managers were named among those delivering it, and if upland fuel management sat alongside rewetting. Drought dries out heather as well as rivers.

3. I prefer acrylic ink bc the pigment stays suspended (mixed) very evenly and it's waterproof so doesn't rewet. Watercolor works of course, but you have to be careful of rewetting. Different paints behave differently in this way

Not comprehensive, but I think most important points. Hope it helps!

We welcomed Sam Carling, MP for North West Cambs, to the Great Fen on Friday. He met our CEO Brian Eversham and Director of Conservation Matt Jackson at the site of our most recent wetland restoration work at New Decoy Farm and learnt about the importance of rewetting this peatland landscape.

Summer moorland wildfires have burned up to 20 cm into peat in some areas, researchers report. The MA argues that reducing vegetation fuel through controlled burning, cutting and grazing should work alongside rewetting.

Why Ireland's Bog Farmers Refuse to Trust the EU's Flagship Green Law
Ireland's hill and bog farmers, through the INHFA, are rejecting the EU's Nature Restoration Law as Ireland drafts its national plan. Burned by past designations that brought restrictions but little pay, they fear rewetting mandates and are staking...

Ecosystem restoration community is regenerating water cycles to mitigate forest fires in Portugal. Rewetting & restoring wetlands, building small dams, & restoring streams disrupt fire spread by retaining water in the land instead of letting it run off. us.list-manage.com/g7TJIuhpMFW?...

The @libdems.org.uk new wildfire policy specifically includes grazing, removal of excess vegetation and firebreaks alongside peatland restoration and rewetting.

The Moorland Association has consistently called for active land management to play a role in wildfire prevention.

Love this #rewilding success story! No amphibians were recorded before restoration. Within months of rewetting, frogs, toads and smooth newts had arrived, with frogspawn now carpeting wetland areas each spring. Grass snakes, adders, slowworms and common lizards have all increased.
