Most moms on TV are young, thin and white, and that doesn’t reflect real life. Our #RewritingMotherhood study with Moms First found that nearly 58% of moms with young children were white, while only 24% were Black, 9% Latina and 7% API.

Being a mom is the mother of all jobs, but TV doesn’t always reflect the work that goes into it.

Our 2024 #RewritingMotherhood study with @MomsFirstUS shows that while TV homes are almost always spotless, only 15% of parents were shown doing the work that goes into keeping them that way.

But representation still lags behind. LGBTQIA+ moms remain vastly underrepresented, especially in lead roles across film and TV. Every child deserves to see their family — and their future — in the stories we tell.
