#Rheologists
as early as the 22nd century, america's rivers are likely to have more hammers in them than water by volume. "Water will be hammer" "Cherish rivers while you can" "Water is becoming hammer" say mournful rheologists

This science experiment has been running almost my entire lifetime. Only experiment I can think of running long is that blob of tar that the rheologists have been studying for 120 years.
NASA Shuts Off Instrument on Voyager 1 to Keep Spacecraft Operating

The Low-energy Charged Particles experiment has been operating almost without interruption since Voyager 1 launched in 1977 - almost 49 years. 🧪🔭 #Voyager

Thanks @physicsmagazine.bsky.social for highlighting our recent work!

We look at a problem that rheologists have considered for 100+ years - how materials that behave like a solid start to flow. This onset of flow can be predicted by linear viscoelasticity

Researchers have shown that the point at which ketchup, toothpaste, and other complex fluids undergo a solid-to-liquid transition can be predicted from the properties of the substance while it is still a solid. The insight could guide the control of this industrially important class of fluids.
Predicting When Ketchup Will Start Flowing
For a wide range of complex fluids, the transition from solid-like at rest to liquid-like when pushed can be predicted from properties of the at-rest state.

Well I assure you, rheologists are NOT deriving their models from first principles if you catch my drift.

Rheologists: I wish more people thought about complex fluids.

Hello rheologists! The SoR Future of Rheology Symposium is a fantastic virtual seminar series highlighting early career researchers. Today at 1pm EST my student Anukta will give a talk on her work with dilute polymer Rheology. Details below - please consider attending!

IDK, but using the tools developed by rheologists to inspire science isn’t a bad place to look and design your own kit.

Rheologists working on space applications and/or low gravity research are encouraged to submit manuscripts to our special issue in the Journal of Rheology by May 31, 2025. Reach out to our guest editors Olfa D'Angelo, Thomas Voigtmann, and Norman Wagner with any questions. #EverythingFlows

We tried to understand the time scales of the adaptation by using dynamical tests: turning light on and off. This method is similar to what rheologists would do for studying viscoelastic liquids.

We found that the cell essentially works like a low-pass filter. But one question remained unanswered
