I don’t know how daughters at that era can be filial when their parents are biased and obviously siding with his concubine who tried to frame her. I wouldn’t survive in this environment. I might be the first to be killed.

That's all great choice! I thought firstly too to choose a cdrama and had #RiseOfNing in mind. I really was so impressed of the cast and there were mostly new to me. I especially loved the uniqueness of the side characters like goose loving man or not as usually super skinny second fl..

The journey was long for Yining but she rose above it all. Trying to survive in her family, then finding the truth about her identity albeit her new found family treated her well. Experienced a broken relationship and discovered true love. Good ending with closure.

Did you watch #RiseOfNing? Thats the only other romance historical #cdrama i know with a normal but as "more usual" framed female character having a love story.

I'm constantly asking this myself too but it's fortunately not bothering me too much that it would spoil my joy watching this drama... the positive aspects of the story telling, atmosphere and couple dynamics outweigh this questionable decision. But after all the negative comments about #RiseOfNing

Sorry for jumping in but you just expressed exactly my thoughts. I got to know him 2024 with AYTO, adored his acting and loved him in RiseOfNing. I needed some eps in SiJin but I think it's getting better each episode especially the last 10 or sth!
