Co-ED Catherine spoke in the program supporting the #RoadToOpportunityAct. This bill will end the practice of suspending driver's licenses for unpaid fines/fees, making MA part of a nationwide movement to stop the criminalization of poverty + break cycles of debt.

This level of hardship isn’t inevitable. Lawmakers can fix this counterproductive policy by passing the #RoadToOpportunityAct. If signed into law, this bill would:

✅ End debt-based license suspensions
✅ Introduce court debt reminders
✅ Allow for fee waivers for indigent individuals

This hardship isn’t inevitable. It’s the product of short-sighted policy that lawmakers can fix. If passed into law, the #RoadToOpportunityAct (H.3662 & S.2368) would end debt-based driver’s license suspensions & could restore mobility and stability for thousands of Massachusetts drivers.
