An objection from #RobinSloan no less!

Now author etc but also in previous lives a media inventor — remember Fish? Spring ‘83?

I’m trying to figure out which science fiction authors of note* have GitHub accounts. I’ve only found 4 though I imagine I’m missing some.

Max Barry github.com/maxbarry

Greg Egan github.com/nagegerg

qntm (aka Sam Hughes) github.com/qntm

Robin Sloan github.com/robinsloan

*Vague but so be it

This was - Amazing. Defo biased as I’ve loved everything Robin Sloan has put out so far, but it’s always delightful to come to that realisation that an author has become an auto-purchase.

Yep. Karpathy is very smart and has been teaching people informally through blogs and repos for a long time.

In another tab, I'm having a conversation about this with Robin Sloan on Threads. www.threads.net/@robinsloan/...

I think this new project, from the great Andrej Karpathy, is cool: https://eurekalabs.ai/ … BUT … AND … I wonder: what's the actual impact of wildly enriched educational opportunities for the top 10%....

The challenge: In March, post a book by a woman author every day. It has to be a book you’ve read and one you enjoyed or learned something from.

@robinsloan Siddhartha would've totally eaten the 2nd pancake (waste not, want not?), but I fear that pancake ate you. I recommend exorcism.

Is anyone else reading—or has read— Moonbound by Robin Sloan?

I love the beavers’ architectural structure of argument. It’s one of the most interesting ideas I’ve encountered in my readings in quite some time

"The thing about blogging is, you can just write about the things you love:
1. love a thing, and
2. write about it.
Sometimes this takes the form of, basically, an appreciative yawp. Other times it’s the most penetrating analysis you’ve ever read"

Rereading some of Kim Stanley Robinson's writing ahead of our event w/ him and @robinsloan tonight and am struck again at just how clearly Robinson sees the world. This, from an essay published in the New Yorker last spring, hits home:
