Today's historic pic: Exactly 38 years ago today, C504 hauls a Melbourne-Adelaide broad gauge 'Jet' express goods through Rockbank, Vic, May 30 1987. Since 1995, Melbourne-Adelaide trains have run on standard gauge via North Shore. This line through Rockbank is now a busy VLine passenger route.

We are getting there people! There is only a short 1km section of road that doesn't have a seperate bike path between home and being able to ride to Rockbank Station and getting around on bike! 🚲

A vehicle hitting a boom gate near Rockbank has led to huge delays on the Ballarat line this morning. Finally on the move again, but looks like I'll get in about 90 mins late.

- they end the quadding after Caroline Springs. The SRL business case alludes to it ending at Hopkins Rd, which was then the first level crossing; it's now being removed, but there's two more before Rockbank that aren't. So it might still be "after Caroline Springs" but where exactly? (3/4)

It has been suggested to me that this location is just on the up side of Rockbank. And I think that may be correct. So the commentary is all correct, just the location is a couple of stations further west than where I thought it might have been.

Apparently, very early seal hunters planted them as replacement masts.
