far, far less of the modern chinese rocketry program involves plausibly espionage-derived technology than people seem to think
i love how xenophobic everyone is about chinese moon landing shit. like ohhhh they stole everything from the US. that’s crazy. everyone knows that american crewed spaceflight tech was spearheaded by red-blooded american Wernher von Braun and was not based on any kind of prior work

LLM code is incredible. But, I still wouldn't get into an LLM-planned rocket launch. Fortunately, some things are rocketry and some things aren't.

(Mostly because all that great rocketry work was funded by gov't contracts and should've gone to NASA to make it in-house anyways)

Where did rocketry come from? How many people suffered in poverty while a nationalist spectacle was being prioritized?

it's like 50% kerbal space program School of rocketry alums who are malding that spacex is just a natural gas into CSAM company now but won't admit it, the other 50% are "kill all communists in my profile" mega groypers

100% virgins tho no doubt

The Starship is the Cybertruck of rocketry.

There is still a very real, functional, and actually profitable rocketry business hiding beneath all of that fraud and grift.

The actual core rocket business does better than Boeing or Lockheed or any of their closest competitors. When *I* call for nationalizing it, that's what I mean specifically.
November 4, 2026 at 4:45 PM
Nope, no prior work at all, certainly not for the Reich

von Braun only came up with his rocketry ideas the moment he first set foot on free American soil

He was but a simple yeoman farmer

Celebrating the 105th anniversary of propellant chemistry genius Mary Sherman Morgan's birth! Here are some thoughts about her big discovery, the rocket fuel Hydyne!

this is what rocketry feels like right now

that’s a super deep cut for rocketry even there

If he's as skilled at that as he is in, say, rocketry, he'll miss and blow up the gun.
I don’t buy that he’d actually do it, if only because Elon Musk is a complete
and total physical coward.
November 4, 2026 at 10:30 PM
i agree with both of your points! it’s not like the essentials of rocketry are any kind of arcane secret, especially not to a state that can afford to experiment

Split up or nationalize spacex. Or split and nationalize a section, like the rocketry business.

Interest surged after World War II with rocketry advancements.

A funny 19ish year old memory is my dad and I bonding over figuring out what springs would work best until we could make foam darts dent plywood.

Actually, weirdly enough most of the positive memories I have with my dad involve rocketry and/or explosions.

There's probably a great thesis in the effects of rocketry technology on global events. If Iran could demonstrate the capability to hypothetically strike the US I couldn't begin to imagine what happens next.

I'm mostly talking about taking over all of their IP related to rocketry and spinning everything else off (to die.)

I don't even know that I'd trust their manufacturing facilities without huge changed to workplace practices.

If we do end up with a Nuremberg 2 these guys are in trouble.

They don't have any useful rocketry or torturing experience to make them useful to governments, they just say dumb stuff on podcasts.

Given the advances in neural nets for drone work and elsewhere, seems unlikely the information lid can be maintained on rocketry or power generation.

What Ukraine models for the world is responsible and ethical leadership with public exposure of its internal self dealing powers.

Reflect Orbital will be hugely significant in earth history as the moment everyone got really into amateur rocketry with their friends

But Newton is still applicable for everyday engineering and rocketry, Relativity works for where it is applied. Whatever comes next will not replace them, just extend rhem In the same way the Periodic table of elements and atomic theory will still be applicable.

Maybe others can take over production?
(Arthur C Clarke pointed out that rocketry was going to have to be replaced with something better eventually fifty years ago.)
By most any measure, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket is by far the most successful launch vehicle ever flown. But if the company has its way, this rocket will soon retire. What could replace it—and is anyone else ready for a world without Falcon 9?
