Similar in some ways to Zelda, but also quite a bit like Fez. Not ashamed to admit I used a guide for some of the Fairy and Treasure puzzles. I liked it, but I wasn't feeling it enough to spend hours writing things down to figure it all out.

26. Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice

This is the 3rd...maybe 4th time I've beaten this, and this playthrough was a continuation of one I started a couple years ago 😅

Still love it, love the audio, love the photo mode, love the sequel (which I'll probably play again soon)

I think I liked this one better than Well Dweller despite being shorter. Really interesting time loop story/mechanic and abilities you "remember", so you can unlock them before the game gives them to you if you manage to guess how to do them. Had fun!

24. Well Dweller

Really solid Metroidvania, especially considering it was made largely by 1 person. Cute, but also disturbing at times (boss designs), fast movement, pretty good story and really my main complaint is that it was short. <10 hours to get the true ending.

23. Control Resonant

Man what a game. Ratcheting up everything as the game goes on, satisfying combat, incredible music, emotional story. It's so distinctly different from Control I'm hesitant to make any comparisons.

*Very* excited for any DLC and what comes next...

22. Control

I love everything about this game. Every time I play it I add over 400 #VirtualPhotography shots, more if I do the DLC. Finished the main story just in time for #ControlResonant tomorrow. Even without a photo mode at launch I am *so* ready.

21. Red Dead Redemption 2

What can you even say about a game like this? Immensely detailed, expansive beyond reason, just enough systems to not be overwhelmed, fantastic story and an ending that sets up RDR perfectly. It demanded my attention for weeks.

20. Halo 4

Gorgeous, shiny Forerunner stuff felt appropriate, new enemies weren't as spongey as I remember (still were though) but man. The ending is bad (activate 3 buttons, RT to win), too much lore is kept separate from the game, and none of the music felt like Halo.

19. Halo 3

Forgot to post this one apparently 😅

I love this game. Sure the Arbiter could be explored more but truly whatever. Introduction of the Spartan Laser, the bubble shield, the music, just fantastic stuff. Haven't played it probably since Reach came out 😂

8. Halo 2 Anniversary

Aside from the "can't see anything" darkness of the whole thing, I had a good time revisiting this one. Cliffhanger ending is still insane, but it made the lead up to Halo 3 just incredible back in the day.

Time to finish the fight.

17. Halo 3: ODST

My Halo playthroughs continue, jumping from Halo 2 into ODST at the right time was something I always wanted to do but never actually finished. That has now changed. Great music and atmosphere...entirely too easy to rip through on Heroic 😅

16. Splatoon Raiders

This game is a blast. Incredibly addicting, funny, exactly what I've wanted from a single player Splatoon since I never got deep into the multiplayer focused ones.

The finale is insane and there's a ton of post-game stuff to get to next. Onward!

15. Halo: Campaign Evolved

This plays notably faster than the original. The scale of the environments feels smaller and Chief moves much quicker even without sprinting and I feel like it was much easier on Heroic. Haven't toyed with Campaign Remix or skulls yet though.

14. Halo: CE Anniversary

It's so good. The warthog run with the music going is just perfect every time. They literally don't make them like this anymore. I'll probably play the whole series again too after I finish Campaign Evolved and maybe I'll finally play Guardians 😅

13. Hell is Us

Decent overall, just a bit inconsistent and lacking....something. The atmosphere, lore, and visuals are great, but the story just kind of ends and enemy variation is severely lacking. The way respawns are handled is pretty clever though.

12. Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition

That was one hell of an RPG. Incredible music, fantastic story, combat was unique but never daunting, and the scale is insane.

It'll be a bit before I jump into X, 2 or 3 but I've put this series off for far too long as it is

11. Star Fox

Star Fox 64 holds a special place in my childhood. The VHS, the Rumble Pak, the music, the voice lines, couldn't get enough. This is everything I've ever wanted in a remake and the music *moves* me. It's incredible

Two runs down, several hundred more to go.

10. Nine Sols

I can't help but feel like I would have enjoyed it more had I played it before Silksong and Mio though. Mostly just some QOL stuff and for me the music didn't hit the same heights. Still a very solid Metroidvania though as long as you know how to parry 😅

9. Saros

I found myself unable to put this down and once they add a photo mode I'm sure I'll put in another 42 hours.

It's more streamlined than Returnal and some of the later boss fights are *incredible*. Housemarque did it again.

8. Resident Evil 4

Overall I'm a little torn. It's gorgeous, plays well, excellent VA and so on...but it's very much the same game. Don't get me wrong, it's an excellent game, but I became less engaged towards the end because I knew how it was all going to shake out.

7. Minishoot' Adventures

I was surprised at how short this turned out to be. Solid twin-stick shooter with enjoyable music that nails the Zelda formula. Had some mild frustrations at the end, but I played it on the hardest difficulty so its my own fault 😅

6. Northern Journey

Best game I've played this year. A completely engrossing adventure with more atmosphere than it knows what to do with. It's only on PC but that stands for Potato Computer.

Be warned; there are lots of spiders and claustrophobic underwater sections.

5. Huntdown

Fun little palate cleanser game. It was pretty short (<6 hours for one playthrough) but there's a bunch of replayability w/high scores and multiple difficulty levels. Glad I waited to pick it up until it was super cheap though, I'm not much of a score chaser.

4. Another Crab's Treasure

If you're wanting to try soulslikes or just want one that's a little less daunting, give this a try. Cute and clever with great music, even though the pacing towards the end made it overstay its welcome just a little. Overall a solid entry.

3. Indika

This was fine. I get it. Very pretty and the story was decent enough to keep me going, but if it wasn't as short as it is I'm not sure I would have finished it. Some audio stuff really bugged me, as did some of the weirdness. Intriguing...but...eh. 🤷‍♂️
