it is one thing to have an attachment to Israel out of misplaced romanticism and quite another to have an attachment to Israel because you want to make sure that all the Jews are there so that they can be murdered for killing Christ before the world ends

getting trapped forever oscillating between "the prequels intentionally undermine the far-off mystique and romanticism of the jedi as established in the OT to make a point," and "george lucas genuinely does not realize how lame and embarrassing this makes his cool space knights"

....And dramatically fucked up Enlightenment thought, bringing Europe Romanticism and 150 years of revolutions
271 years ago, on the 1st of November 1755, Lisbon was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.7. In combination with a tsunami and fires, the city was almost entirely destroyed. The timing (All Saint's Day) and the destruction of many churches caused speculation of divine judgement. #otd 🗃️

This just feeds into my observation that the modern right isn't defined by things like Burke's "hey maybe we should make sure change isn't too abrupt" or Tolkien's romanticism but by the sheer depths of depravity they're willing to go to in order to satiate the id.
the modern right has no positive vision anymore and all the romantics find themselves a paradoxical flavor of lib because that's the political group not driven by vice and petty spite

Ukraine has no other choice except to win. Not romanticism, just math. Moscovia offers only one alternative: Ukraine ceasing to exist. A power that denies your right to be a nation permits only extremes. Win, and Europe wins with you.

The more awful, the more painful, the more pointless, random, chaotic, senseless and undignified it is... the more romantic they will find it. That's the thing with romanticism. It's predicated on making bad things sound good, and there are no limits.

National Socialism adapts Fascism, Bolshevism, Americanism, works it all into Teutonic Romanticism.
