Brownstein is right. The Platner stuff isn’t beside the point morally, but it’s also not beside the point strategically. He is a risky candidate, and more is likely to come out.

@RonBrownstein Isn't throwing $ at rural hospitals to offset the impact of Medicaid cuts that are funding tax cuts for the rich forcing the vast majority of US who live in urban/suburban areas to pay 2x-once for the tax cuts & again to buy off rural-focused Rs? Metro hospitals won't see those $

The biggest challenge in 2024 is to get enough people to actually listen to what Trump and those around him are openly, consistently, and explicitly promising to do once they get back to power.

It is utterly deranged, and discounting it as just rhetoric would be a disaster.

If there are people around you who believe “it won’t be *that* bad,” people who are annoyed by what they perceive as liberal “alarmism,” just read this out loud to them a few times and force them to actually reflect on what Miller is outlining here. It’s utterly terrifying.

I’m not gonna come out here and say a Trump +5 poll makes me sanguine. It’s a scary result! But like…is it credible? Is it credible that Trump flips the 2020 margin and wins the popular vote entirely by gains in nonwhite groups? It simply doesn’t smell right to me.

Which is so maddening. We still hear that HRC was the weaker candidate and Bernie would have absolutely, totally, definitely would have won vs. Trump.

They've got an opportunity to here and it's being clouded by the refusal to cut the podcaster out completely and his weakness with certain voters.
