Saw actor/playwright Ronnie Marmo's one-man play "I'm Not a Comedian...I'm Lenny Bruce" and it was AMAZING. Marmo's show was almost like having the late comedian (and ironic champion of the 1st Amendment) back from the dead for an evening to tell his story. Fearless performance; Marmo was even fully naked at the beginning and end of the show, bookending the play with Bruce's fatal 1966 overdose on the toilet. Marmo had more Cliff Gorman-energy than Dustin Hoffman, and he really channeled Bruce. There were, of course, a handful of idiots in the audience who walked out; apparently offended. Honestly, what they hell did they expect from a one man play about Lenny f**king Bruce?!? After the show, there was a Q & A with the audience (who gave him a standing ovation) and a meet & greet in the lobby (where I got to talk with the actor and get a selfie). Fantastic show.
