Film Feature, Actor-Related

Writing my first first L.A. Times article, a profile on the team behind ROOFMAN left me so stressed. I worried I was getting too nerdy talking about Frank Capra. I'm so proud of it now and love that others appreciate it.

Got around to watching Roofman yesterday.

Maybe the most 7/10 movie that's ever been made, and I don't mean that in a bad way.

In no particular order:

Cyrano (I cried, it’s a musical.)

American Dreamer (surprisingly touching.)

She Came to Me (so so weird but good. Marisa Tomei is a tug boat captain. I wanted more Anne Hathaway.)

Roofman (supporting role, based on a true story)

I Care A Lot (mobsters love their moms.)

Oh yes. Loved that bit. I had to Google it afterwards and was amused to find that he's still not finished 'The Winds of Winter'. I first saw Tatum in 'Roofman', which I hated so much I turned it off (which I rarely do), but I'm coming around to accepting that he's made some very decent films.

Went to a Scranton Rail Riders game this summer, they used to throw them from the bed of a pinstriped pickup. New 1st and 3rd base nets are too high to do that. Now they have "roofman" come out the 50's batman theme and fire them down from the roof above the stadium. They need this.

this is all extreme pedantry obvs, they overall did fine. much worse IMO was that ROOFMAN, which takes place in the mid '00s, has a shot of an american airlines plane with livery on it, which seems extremely out of place aesthetically for that era

A film adaptation of Gary Paulsen’s ‘HATCHET’ is in development at Netflix, with Derek Cianfrance (‘ROOFMAN’) set to direct.

The story follows a 13-year-old boy stranded in the Canadian wilderness after a plane crash, armed with only a hatchet from his mother.
