This is the most well known picture by the artist MICRO (Michael Rootes). But yeah dang, that is an annoyingly vague art handle to go by.

Newly manufactured Hillman Imps lined up at Rootes Factory in Linwood. The car was launched in May 1963.

It’s time to get your Rootes car ready for a ‘care-free’ holiday with a range of attractive & useful accessories though you would have to find a Rootes dealer, of course…

Factoid: Avoiding the punned headline, a reminder Rootes won this rally btwn 1961-63 with the Sunbeam Rapier, the ‘62 & ‘63 victories achieved by Andrew Cowan, the winner for Rootes of the London-Sydney Marathon…

The dub maestro and studio innovator King Tubby was born on this day in 1941.

Here's a glorious dub version of Junior Byles' Fade Away that was mixed at King Tubby's and only released at the time on this UK 7"...

Imports of Australian Valiants to the UK coincided with Chrysler Corporation taking full control of Rootes Group in 1967. The cars had the advantage of being built in the Commonwealth with right-hand-drive, and optimistically hoped to fill the gap left by Rootes dropping its big Humber range.

Factoid: Rootes’ neat, stylish Alpine had various ‘Series’ after its 1959 intro & mention of the 1,725cc engine here means this is the final Series V version which was built until 1968.

Chrysler gained a confusing mess of badge-engineering when it took over the Rootes Group. The Sunbeam Alpine - inheriting a name once used by Rootes on roadsters - was a stripped-down Rapier with a 74bhp version of the 1725cc engine, but it was hard to explain the logic of the separate name.

The venerable Hillman Minx name made its final appearance on an entry-level version of Rootes' Arrow range, sitting below the slightly more upmarket Hillman Hunter. This 1969 brochure, featuring groovy period artwork, introduces some minor changes to the model. #carbluesky

The glamorously-styled new Sunbeam Rapier fastback added a hotter H120 version in 1968, featured dramatically on its hand-drawn UK brochure cover. It boasted a 110bhp version of the Rootes 1725cc engine with twin carburettors, tweaked by Holbay Engineering, plus stripes and rear spoiler. #carbluesky

Factoid: We all like archive promo films & there’s a new channel on YouTube that ticks this box.

It’s the Rootes Archive & where better to start than the Hillman Hunter’s marathon-winning performance in the London-Sydney…(1)

Factoid: A typical image from an early (1976) brochure for the Simca 1307/1308 & one where not particularly flattering heavily retouched images were used to sell a not unattractive car.

A far cry from the artistic efforts of Rootes brochures past…

The Rootes-designed Hillman Avenger made an impact well beyond the UK, turning up in numerous international markets under various guises. This brochure features the New Zealand-assembled version, badged Chrysler after its mid-life facelift, and an enduringly popular Kiwi seller. #weirdcarbs

The most stylish member of the Rootes Group's rear-engined' Imp family was the pretty 875cc Sunbeam Stiletto coupé, shown in this very 'Swinging Sixties' brochure. Launched in late 1967, the coupé bodystyle was also available in Hillman and Singer versions, but proved quite short-lived. #weirdcarbs

Factoid: And if recall it moved from Scotland to Ryton in the West Midlands (Rootes’ main plant) to be made into an engine before heading back up to Linwood (in Scotland) & installed into the back of an Imp…

Little wonder Rootes was losing money…

Factoid: While the Hunter’s rear was had just one facelift, Rootes/Chrysler were endlessly changing the car’s ‘business end’.
Here’s one from 1972 which was the second of three the car had in 7yrs.

The Sunbeam Rapier's pillarless design was a decade old by the time its final Series V model ushered in a power boost in 1965 thanks to Rootes' new 1725cc engine. Two swordsmen fighting a duel made an unusual cover picture for the brochure. #carbluesky

For the British home market, Sunbeam was meant to be Rootes' performance marque, so the name was only used in the Imp range on the Sport model, as well as gracing the attractive Sunbeam Stiletto coupé.

Factoid: Yes, the long, low, sleek look is exactly what a pick up needs to be, though it’s good to know Rootes’ artistic license extended to light commercials in their ads…

The artist is called 'MICRO' (Michael Rootes)
But I cannot find any further work by them.
The name Micro is a tad vague to really get a decent search going.
Any further information on them would be fantastic.
