I hope it changes because the market rejects it. There have to be better ways to do anti-cheat than rootkits
Because Valve's new Steam Machine runs on SteamOS, a Linux-based platform, it means it's incompatible with the anti-cheat systems used to protect games like Battlefield 6. That means you won't be able to play it in multiplayer.

I can't imagine the Linux community ever embracing rootkits for the sake of optional entertainment. It's pretty much antithetical to the reason Linux exists in the first place.
