This week saw the first proper voyage of our brand new ship!

It’s been great seeing our efficiency measures in operation (finally!), but it also allows us to do something else -

We started digital twin simulations of these voyages, and their actual wind conditions, for our upcoming rotorsails!

Our sails are taking to the water in ~3 months time, with the first of a series of ships being built in the coming years.

Our smaller ships are planned to have rotorsails from Norsepower, while the larger ones (like in my profile banner) have WindWings from BAR Technologies.

But now look at the digital twin with rotorsails -

The same wind and waves, but a very different ’wind factor’ as we see the vessel’s speed being increased by up to 1.3 knots!

The spinnaker type sails I’m not a big fan of. Don’t there’s enough benefit there to justify the cost and risk haha

We’re deploying rotorsails that use the Magnus effect to create thrust, and on other ships big rigid wing sails.
