Meta AI Licensing Opportunity

At RouteNote, we’re always looking for new ways to help artists earn more from their music rights while giving you a clear choice about how your music is licensed.

We’re getting in touch because Meta has approached RouteNote about a new licensing opportunity to develop and improve its AI-powered technologies, and your music has been included in a very selective list of tracks they are interested in licensing.

This would be a one-off licensing deal, with a one-off payment. The licence would last for 2 years and is completely non-exclusive.

I expect fees will increase. While many distributors like Distrokid tout “100%” royalties to artists”, they quietly raise accompanying fees.

For example, RouteNote doubled its payout transaction fees this year from 2.5% to 5% without notice. When I asked for details they wouldn’t provide any.

RouteNote, a platform that lets you distribute your music to Spotify etc., is automatically opting its users into an AI licensing deal with Meta.

They say “This is your choice”, and give you 14 days to opt out - but lots of users will miss this email & therefore miss the chance to opt out.
