I heard _first_ holidays _after_ are the b*tch when grieving but now discovering it first hand 💔 phone reminded me abt this 📸 today - this is New Year’s at my parents place in Kyiv last year. rssia attacked us day before, another attаck coming in 2 days. We are making roast duck. Mom is still alive.

A wannabe-dictator sure would like to be able to disappropriate, steal (and kill) at will.

Sadly and infuriatingly true. Promising to defend Ukraine if they gave up their nuclear weapons only to turn away when rssia invades. Despicable. And turning away from healthcare for first responders too. Anyone in Congress who ever voted against either should removed. Physically if necessary.
I'm down for whatever we have to do to take back our country from Trump and Co! They're all Rssia loving, anti-American fascists and we CAN NOT LET THEM WIN!!

Nuclear is way expensive (if you don‘t dual-use) compared to Solar/Wind, and reliant on raw materials, with a substantial amount of it being processed in rssia.
(Still I‘d like to have out nuclear plants preserved at least, as they are already built, they need months of overhaul but still)

Ukraine was never able to join NATO due to an existing conflict with russia. The kemlin knew very well Ukraine could not join. Also as membrship is by concensus of existing membrs rssia could use its influence over hungary or bulgaria to reject it.

I'm not convinced it's that cut & dried. We've underfunded the military for decades (not met NATO promises) AND we're going to need more defence capability on the North against Rssia, China, and the USA re: ship passage & drilling.

I seem to remember that Ukraine relinquished nuclear weapons, and that made no difference to Russia. Then it dropped its ambitions to join NATO and that made no difference. Now it's to cede territory to Rssia as a reward for invasion, and be barred from NATO. That should help protect it. #Ukraine

Yet rssia has lost three times its original invading force, lost economically and geopolitically, and is still clibging on to a grand victory that will never come.
