I try very hard to build the Rule of Cool into the *rules* so that it isn't needed as a table workaround.

In my head I see these lads as being used in boarding actions or to help clear corridors in a hive city. Anywhere that needs a little bit extra to punch through barricades or the like where regular troops might falter.
