Nov. 23, 1925: The Coast Guard's newest cutter, the Dallas, arrives at Boston for duty in ever-expanding anti-rumrunning patrols. The swift vessel is armed with a 3-inch gun on the forward deck and is capable of cruising on the open water for a month before returning to port.

Aug. 14, 1926: Prohibition enforcement chief Lincoln Andrews returns to New York from a trip to Britain to press international efforts against rumrunning, and vows to have the "whip hand" over bootleggers in the next year. He admits consuming (legal) rum-soaked pancakes on his ship journey.
