#Rumsfeld
Remember, the day after Bush’s horrible midterm losses in 2006, he pushed Don Rumsfeld out.
Hegseth is good at one thing only: consolidating power in the Pentagon. To hold on to office, Hegseth has launched Queeg-like hunts to shut down unflattering leaks. He also constantly posts videos showing him working out with the troops — as if his job were to be a personal trainer. wapo.st/4kuSpt7
Opinion | The verdict is in: Hegseth is Trump’s worst Cabinet choice
He richly deserves to be impeached or fired.

So, what’s the modern lesson?

They say "You go to war with the Army you have," but you also go into battle with the forces that you have IN THEATER, and their readiness can have a measurable effect on the success or failure of future battles and campaigns.

Rumsfeld firing is in the category of known-knowns

Rumsfeld quit the day after the 2006 midterms, maybe Hegseth decides he'd rather take the easy way out too

At least McNamara and Rumsfeld were traditional nerds.

Seriously! I feel like Nichols is burning candles for Fleischer, Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz.

I miss traditional nerdy looking war criminals like McNamara and Rumsfeld.

Selective Intelligence
Donald Rumsfeld has his own special sources. Are they reliable?

Bush should have pushed Rumsfeld out of a window. Maybe our current Russian-inspired Regime Leader will take a hint.

The same Dan rather who co-owned a ranch with Donald Rumsfeld from 1981-2007?

You contest elections on the playing field you have, not the playing field you want, as Don Rumsfeld might have said. And this playing field is structurally skewed dramatically in favor of Republicans—although that often gets lost in the heat of campaigning.

“Death to IRGC!” but there are real reasons why toppling down the regime isn't as easy as just bombing several places & killing the senior leaders.

hagseth is just no more different than rumsfeld except crazier, drunkard & view everything from a biblical view.

also, whining about gender.

New York Times did with Iraq, Rumsfeld would "leak" to them that Saddam had WMD and the NYT would headline "Saddam has WMD!" and Rumsfeld would shit-grin into the cameras and mics "Hey! Even the liberal New York Times says Saddam has WMD!".

An ouroboros of bullshit.
Bad: Alaska's GOP governor just refused to commit to certifying Mary Peltola if she wins Senate race. Trump is seizing on NYT story to pressure Rs to decline to certify her.

I talked to election law experts. They explain why this will likely fail but get very nasty:

Inside Trump’s Dark Plot to Keep Senate in GOP Hands Even If Dems Win
Senate control could come down to Alaska. Can Republicans really refuse to certify or seat Mary Peltola if she wins? Probably not. But they sure can gum it up.

Republican Rumsfeld missed this too.

You know who caused GOP Failures: Pete Hegseth, for convincing a doddering fool to enter a war that is tanking a global economy. The fact that Trump will not even “Donald Rumsfeld” Hegseth is why everyone should vote for not to table Massie’s impeachment vote on November 9.
There are two profiles of James Blair, packaging him up as the scapegoat for GOP failures on Tuesday. WaPo's mentions immigration but not Hispanic voters. Atlantic doesn't mention either but does claim that Trump prefers men with hair on their heads.

I remember thinking we'd never have a worse secdef than Rumsfeld. That kind of sunny optimism is how I make sure life can always keep surprising me.

What a great post, we all saw the Iraq war was a war of opportunity for the Bush Admin and Dick Cheney, Rumsfeld & Wolfowitz were profiteers & deserve to be reviled for their preemptive War.
October 31, 2026 at 3:34 PM
blamed Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld for the losses and forced him out. Two months later, Bush ordered a surge of forces that ushered in one of the war’s deadliest periods.” -that’s because the Democrats back then just sat on their hands and didn’t cut funds. Different this time?! IDK

Has real "Rumsfeld is doing a heck of a job" energy to it.
