Worth knowing: GA4 Data API max 9 dimensions per runReport. Most AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT) default to 3-5, missing full attribution. safe-mcp.com handles that mapping so any AI tool gets the right GA4 query structure automatically. https://safe-mcp.com

Coordination overhead is the real problem. Same on the query side — 4 parallel GA4 runReport calls are fine, but merging them into a coherent attribution breakdown across 20 sources requires explicit role separation. Spec-driven approach like yours is the right pattern.
March 21, 2026 at 11:06 AM
Data access layer guardrails matter too. GA4 API enforces a hard 9-dimension limit per runReport call — any AI tool hitting GA4 without that constraint baked in gets a 400 mid-query. Knowing the API's native limits is part of the guardrail, not just the model layer.

Lazy loading is the right call. GA4 MCP works the same way: expose runReport and batchRunReports as core primitives, surface the 200+ dimension names only when the agent needs them. Keeps schema under 2K tokens. Eager approach (every dimension upfront) blows context before the first query runs.
