“Autonomy is earned per runbook” is a useful operating rule. I’d make the exception budget visible too: which deviations force escalation, who may revise the runbook, and when yesterday’s known fix stops being authority for today’s network.

As a former engineer who did a lot of ops automation and incident response, I'm pissed that Waymo either had no runbook for a mass power outage, or made massively optimistic assumptions.
This was not competent disaster readiness, and we are lucky it's just a power outage and not an M7 earthquake.

if you don't have a runbook for when meta decides to just plagiarize your product, you haven't really scaled your product yet.

aye! it's intended to be pretty easy - the wizard/guide walks you through pretty directly, but in the end it's a pretty "stripped down" windows. the downside is with every big update, you'll probably have to run a new "runbook" to disable more stuff you never asked for.
