#Runicsky
[My imperfect translation.]

The rune is itself shaped like the trident used to harvest the reed, the key to itself.

I began a kinda tongue-in -cheek modern day Rune Poem, for the fuþorc, keeping to the sound, meaning & verse form. This for feoh:

"Fee is a first-thought, fine when it's paid
with lateness looming. Lodge your receipts,
to be spared from tax on
expenses outlaid."

Talk of travel is easy to those at home;
the road still a struggle to those not yet arrived.

22nd of the Old English runes is Ing.
The sound in ng
The word is Ing.

Ing is a god, like Freyr on his wain, passing through like seasons, or youth & vigour.

-ing also the marker of a tribe, like Mac or fab.

Curious that a Pagan figure was kept in Christian rewrites.

Of the Old English runes, the 10th is Nyd.
The sound is n.
The word (& pronunciation) is need.

The shape might even suggest the need-fire, from a bow & drill.

Need - something is lacking, something is short. Nature's not keen on a vacuum...

11th of the Old English runes, Is.
The sound is i (as in grit).
The word is ice.
The shape maybe an icicle.

Ice & fire: the first things. Fire for movement, ice for form. Yet, even ice has its own movement & its own danger. Here is no thaw.

3rd in a moder-day Rune Poem? This for thorn. Slightly tongue-in-cheeck, but also slightly not. More if I think of them. "O...":

"Thoughts, when thorny, are thoroughly vindictive;
Eating esteem, urging the throwing
Of false ideas, fighting loved ones."

These are my runes, for casting, for reading Wyrd.

They are of the Old English rune row, known as the futhorc (ᚠᚢᚦᚩᚱᚳ) for the first 6 characters.

Each #rune has a sound, a shape and a name; also, a verse in the Old English Rune Poem.

17th of the Old English Runes is tir.
The sound is t.
The word here is simply Tir; perhaps the name of a star or planet, but reminiscent of the god Tiw (Old Norse, Tyr).

A guiding light or principle. Something constant, reliable, true. Justice, maybe.

Wyn is the 8th of the Old English runes.
The sound is w.
The word is translated as joy, and survives in winsome.
The shape echoes thorn, the 🔺️ lifted somewhat.

Just as happiness is to be pursued, so wyn derives from something desired, to be striven for.
