Tuesday: I bounced over about ~2.5 hours from McDowell to📍Clay County. Clay only has around ~11,000 folks in the county, but I left feeling encouraged by the energy and resiliency of folks there to keep standing up against republicans in Raleigh and Washington. #RuralMatters

Democrats created a rural caucus within the DNC more than a quarter century ago. I was one of two original co-founders. Agriculture and small business are key to a thriving and safe America. When a nation can't feed its people that nation is at risk. It's no BS to say #RuralMatters.
We find it to be a true challenge to adequately explain how devastating the loss of the NOAA and the NWS would be to rural America. The vast majority of the country is rural, not urban. Therefore the preponderance of the severe weather happens in rural areas and not urban ones.
