If her plump white belly is any indication, the lot have been wholly welcomed and thoroughly doted upon by those residing in The Crystarium. Mother nuzzles at the smallest of them—a black, long-haired girl—and then, in earnest, begins to lap at the fluff between her ears. The slicked-back appearance causes her to look adorably pathetic, and Ryne swears there's a hint of annoyance in her baby-blue eyes, as well as in the mighty tremble of her teeny-tiny whiskers. She cannot help but giggle. The kitten's head whips to her, silently judging, seeming to ask, You dare laugh at my suffering? The gall! The baby, in turn, presses herself into the caress, and Ryne feels her purr vibrating against the pads of her fingers. All is forgiven, it seems. She would never admit it in front of the others, but this one's her favorite. She considers dubbing her Gaia the Second in honor of the uncanny personality resemblance she shares with the first. But she suspects her Gaia would have opinions about that. Ryne isn't surprised when she hears another approach, as though summoned by the thought of her, leather boots squeaking against the stony ground. "Of course you're here," Gaia remarks, her voice an endeavor at mock annoyance. One arm hangs at her side, while the other shoves a fist to her hip. "You, with your echelon of kittens." Despite her best effort, she cannot convincingly disguise the undertone of fondness. A pastel rainbow background with black texts reads: "They're just so adorable!" Ryne insists, smiling up at her. "And they're growing so quickly. I don't want to miss any moment with them." When Gaia claims a seat next to her, she casually slings an arm about the shorter girl's shoulders and pulls her closer. A rosy blush warms Ryne's cheeks, but she instinctively leans into it, humming with contentedness. Gaia's body heat drapes her like a secondary embrace, and at this proximity, she can hear the elevated rhythm of her heartbeat. Try as she might to appear cool and collected, she is just as affected as Ryne, and this delights her. "Perhaps…" Gaia begins, trailing off. "Hmm?" Ryne prods, glancing up at her through the canopy of her eyelashes. Gaia doesn't look at Ryne. Her attention is on the kittens, who are now all wrestling together while their mother, taking advantage of the respite, grooms herself. "Perhaps, when they're old enough to be separated, we'll take one home with us." A pastel rainbow background with black texts reads: Ryne squeals and abruptly twists around, bringing them face to face. "That would make me wonderfully happy!" Her smile stretches so far, so brightly, that it hurts a little. Then, in an act she is hardly conscious of, her arms settle at Gaia's shoulders and her fingers interlock at the base of her nape. Gaia pretends to be unfazed, but her smile is pleased and her eyes soften. "Duly noted." "But what if we make it two?" she suggests sweetly, making an attempt at her best puppy-eyed expression, even going as far as to bat her lashes. She can't say how successful it is—at least, not until Gaia replies. Gaia rolls her eyes. "I suppose we shall see." But Ryne already knows she's won.
