The oddly specific landmarks that will actually tell you if you're looking in the correct direction are two houses on the hill that are sneakily visible in the actual scene 😂
A screenshot from OFMD S2E8 with Ed and Stede reuniting, with sneaky background houses from the filming location circled in red A photograph from the Lake Wainamu dunes with the same houses circled on the hill

Boy did this one take a lot of walking over sand dunes, but we got there 😂 The way this scene is cut together makes it look very much like it's in a beach location, but it's actually not- these are dunes that sit well behind Te Henga on the edge of Lake Wainamu.
Two images, the top of Ed and Stede kissing in S2E8 of OFMD, the bottom of the same setting in the Lake Wainamu dunes.

I love you. I love you.
I know. I know that.
Lego Ed and Stede about to kiss at the beach kiss site from S2E8. The background is out of focus because of the camera limitations. The recognisable trees from the background of the S2E8 beach kiss scene.

Couldn't tell you. It's the upper half of her gala outfit from s2e8 and she's in front of her vanity as seen in the opening of s2e3. But the pose is inspired by the new HB trailer with Stolas putting on makeup.

We're also confident that the first bit of that episode, with Ed fishing in the boat, was taken here but from a spot a little bit further around, under trees.
At the top, Ed Teach fishes in OFMD S2E8. Things do not go as planned. At the bottom, an imperfect angle on what is probably the same shore at Lake Wainamu (we couldn't get fully around to line it up from under the likely tree the original was filmed from behind)

He's so good at so many things, but fishing isn't one of them 🥲
Two images of the same landscape- the top one from OFMD S2E8 shows Ed Teach rowing away from the fishing camp; the bottom one is the same landscape at Lake Wainamu

I didn't actually get a pic standing far back from the shore but this shows the same features.
Two photographs of the same place at Lake Wainamu, with the top one from OFMD S2E8 showing a fishing camp and three people sitting down to eat. The bottom one is from the same location today.

The Lake Wainamu landscape does shift and change because it's sand and there's a lot of water and wind happening here, so the reeds have grown over the bit of this that used to be cleared. Please ignore someone's random children having the time of their life in the way of pirate photographing 😅
Two images of the same lake setting, the top with Ed Teach strolling toward a fishing boat in golden light from OFMD S2E8; the bottom from Lake Wainamu today

The S2E8 beach reunion and kiss location! We walked ALL over these dunes looking for the right angle and ultimately DID find it, but it's in a private property zone unfortunately- this was taken from higher up the slope, showing the whole area.

[Community Note] Not misinformation: Donald Trump really has a brief cameo in *Sex and the City* S2E8 “The Man, the Myth, the Viagra” (aired July 25, 1999). It’s listed on IMDb/RottenTomatoes (imdb.com, rottentomatoes.com).
