In 1858 a young woman smashed a champagne bottle against Clarendon's new timber bridge. The ford it replaced had tested every cart bound south for twenty years. Sixty years later the timber rotted and the ford was pressed back into service before a concrete arch replaced it. #Clarendon #SAHistory

For two decades a flying fox carried buckets of clean white sand over the dunes behind Maslin Beach to a railway siding on the Willunga line, and the Noarlunga Sand Company fed the concrete of a growing Adelaide.
