It’s great $2B in cancelled mental health grants have been reversed. They never should have been cut, especially with a major appropriations bill due this month that includes SAMSHA lines. Reversing cuts publicly while cutting them behind closed doors is the same policy.

January is National Substance Use Disorder Treatment month, an observance traditionally led by SAMSHA, which naturally means the Trump administration is celebrating by cutting 2 billion dollars in substance abuse and mental health grants.

the 1st of my last 2 harm reduction trainings for SAMSHA is tomorrow. 100+ in attendance and a lots of folks from rural areas. I’m sad that I can’t work for them any more since they’ve complied with an executive order and no longer allow inclusive language. but I am proud of the work I’ve done🩵

I don’t see SAMSHA, just a parted-out version of something, and frankly, under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, virtually all the prevention is missing. This is horrifying.

It's about to get a whole lot thinner if we cut Medicaid (which funds treatment providers) and SAMSHA (which funds lots of services including treatment).

abstinence based programs can often lead to accidental overdose when somebody relapses due to loss of tolerance. SAMSHA has good data on it. MAT treatment is essential with fentanyl.
