🤮 Trump backed John Coale’s plan to ease Russia sanctions for freeing political prisoners, The Atlantic reports. Coale used the same model with Belarus. The deal could also reopen U.S.–Russia business and boost Trump’s Nobel bid.

The west can help by doing much more, more quickly with sanctions, including on third countries. The problem with partial measures to mitigate the impact on other countries is that we've created an arms race in which neither side loses but the volume and level of technology involved keep going up.
Russia has moved to a new level of warfare - a regime of constant drone pressure that it can sustain continuously. In 2025–2026, the Shahed evolved from a relatively simple one-way drone into an entire family of systems with different missions⤵️

Personal view: This kinda explains why Trump has been nagging Ukraine so hard about stopping attacks on Russian refineries. He's probably got a deal with Putin to buy Russian oil once those sanctions are eased up. 😡 I bet Zelenskyy saw this coming.

Donald Trump weighs easing Russia sanctions if Kremlin frees political prisoners
US President Donald Trump is considering a deal in which the Kremlin would free some political prisoners in exchange for the US easing sanctions on the Russian economy, The Atlantic reported on Tuesday. Trump's envoy to Eastern Europe, John Coale, proposed the initiative "a few months ago," and "Trump signed on," the report said. The initiative, which The Atlantic noted is "still in its early stages," would "promise to advance several of Trump's goals at once." "It would help reintegrate Russia into the global economy and broaden Trump's talks with the Kremlin beyond the intractable war in Ukraine, which his envoys have failed to end after more than a year of diplomacy...create a path for the US to sign lucrative deals involving Russian oil, diesel, rare earth minerals, and other commodities, [and] as a bonus, the release of prisoners on humanitarian grounds could bolster Trump's case for his long-coveted Nobel Peace Prize," the report said. However, this approach "is likely to outrage the Ukrainians, Europeans, and even many of Trump's allies on Capitol Hill," the report noted. This is because "any potential business deal between the US and Russia would risk funneling money to the Russian military even as it...

"The Kremlin is restricting publicly available information regarding Russia’s oil and gas industry, likely in an effort to conceal and protect Russian oil supplies for a variety of reasons, including from strikes, sanctions, or domestic Russian discontent and panic stemming from fuel shortages."

Hungary blocking opening chapters for Ukraine again.

See, Magyar government is just same old Hungary with a slightly different accent. However, there may be others too that might want to step on the brakes. Which takes down Moldova as well.

He's just doing anything to help Russia in Ukraine including expending all our missiles in Iran, and driving up the cost of oil. Higher oli prices and released sanctions help Russia fund their war. Zelensky bravely ended some of that bullshit.
