A nugget that may be interesting, or tangentially relevant. Recently South Africa made SASL (SA sign language) our 12th official language. Apparently a lot of deaf children are taught ASL not SASL, though.

The (Rhein)Metall Super Automat. It’s a large mechanical calculator with fully automatic division and multiplication. Very heavy so hard to lift even with those two handles.
