I know everyone wants to Nationalize SpaceX and give it to NASA, but NASA doesn't actually do that much in-house R&D. Almost all of it is done through the SBIR, STTR, or regular contract process with universities and private businesses.

NASA prefers this because it lets them take risks NASA can't.

Or break it up. Turn it into 3 companies. One medium-launch provider based in California responsible for Falcon 9 and Dragon, one satellite internet provider, and one super-heavy launch provider based in Texas.
