#SCIX
Astronomers: about 3 weeks to go before you'll have to use SciX instead of ADS. I took the plunge and updated all my links just now, everything works well (i.e. the team behind it is great, as usual). 🧪

So I take it the new SciX (replacing ADS) has scrapped several data repositories and listed them in the database associated with authors?

Can see a whole lot of our datasets on there now.

The metrics make it look like I am either a quack or have used AI to write hundreds of papers lol 😅

As you predicted, ADS users will move to #SciX next month.

We hope there is enough positive with the new interface and almost no pain the changeover

... and the Classic option remains ...

Trying out the new SciX NASA ADS, I did a search on a rather obscure subject, just one hit, a paper I wrote twenty years ago!

ADS -> SciX

@lavaeolus not really, the whole - it's also fully moved to SciX (it's in the article - let me know if it is not available for you in the link and I can send it to you).

Into the era of SciX. I switched over a few months ago knowing the transition was coming. The only way to make all astronomers use SciX is really to shutdown down NASA ADS. I think the SciX interface builds on what's great about ADS.

With news about the transition from ADS to SciX trending today, here's a little SciX superuser hot tip.

You can make SciX one of the search engine options in your browser, which then makes it easy to initiate a literature search from your navigation bar.

And hello SciX! (Which has every single one of ADS's features, including an ADS Compatibility Mode)

The switch to SciX is not that painful, especially now that the site is almost as fast as ADS. Much easier than other transitions in the field! And all of your account info ports just fine.

Or now I guess SciX

It’s being replaced by SciX, at scixplorer.org, so everything that was available in ADS will be present there.

Talking about ADS and SciX to the grad students in my group, I've had to remind them that astronomy/planetary astronomy has been really lucky that there's a system that catalogs and sorts everything and easily gives us ways to find related papers and cited/referenced papers (plus the bibtex entry)
October 12, 2026 at 12:24 PM
I tried to switch when they originally announced ADS was on the way out, but went back because found SciX less pleasant to use and found no benefits (for my work). Has It changed in any way?
