Since this week’s #ShowMeYourKnits prompt is hats, here’s my SCoEL (stocking cap of epic length. Pattern is in alt text. It’s been knit by one friend but never tested or published so tweak as needed. 🧶
SCoEL* *Stocking cap of epic length Materials Approximately 500 grams super bulky weight yarn Yarn used is Cascade Big Wheel 3 skeins needed (600 grams) Needle is Size 10 Note: The manufacturer suggests a needle size of 11-13 for this yarn. Decrease the needle size to get a slightly tighter fabric to increase warmth and water resistance. Gauge and sizing info Gauge 16 stitches and 19 rows per 4”/10 cm Size is adult Finished length is approximately 68” not including the pompon Pattern Cast on 84 stitches. Join to work in the round being careful not to twist. Made these all in the fall of 2023 from Cascade Yarns Cartwheel.

Epically long stocking hat that is so long it functions as a scarf too. This first one was in pink and grey. It was made as a gift for a cancer survivor related to a dear friend. Pink and grey stocking cap around my son’s neck. It goes from his waist, up around his neck, and back down to his waist. It’s approximately 5.5-6” long (he’s a tall boy). The second version of the epically long hat/scarf was made in blue/green/yellow as another gift. The third version of the hat was made in red/blue/green so I could actually write down the pattern.

Adjusted the #SCoEL pattern again so it’s moving along faster than the earlier versions. Along with the SCoEL and Fibonacci hat, the Mecha flower hat will be in the care package too. She only knows about the SCoEL so I hope the others are a pleasant surprise. #Knitting 🧶#CancerSucks

Wrote down the pattern for the SCoEL (stocking cap of epic length) from memory of the original hat and after tweaking the beginning. Now to follow it the rest of the way and adjust as necessary. It’s 324 rows long!!! #knitting #SCoEL

I had a request from one of my #HatOfTheMonthClub ladies for grey and pink. So this super lightweight, super soft little number will accompany the #StockingCapOfEpicLength #Knitting
