To the San Francisco chapter of the League of Women Voters, Mayor Daniel Lurie’s Proposition D represents nothing less than a threat to democracy. The measure aims to reduce the number of propositions that make it on the ballot by quadrupling the number of signatures required to get them there, to about 42,500. That represents an increase from two percent to eight percent of the city’s registered voters, driving up the cost of collecting those signatures to more than $1 million, opponents of Prop. D argue. “This one is really problematic for us,” said Lauren Girardin, a spokesperson for the San Francisco League of Women Voters, which is nonpartisan and does not support or oppose candidates. That doesn’t mean the group is apolitical. As Girardin explained, if Prop. D passes, “it’s going to be a lot easier for only wealthy interests to get what they want on the ballot, and for regular folks, it’s going to be that much harder. And to us, that’s just not democratic,”

@sunsetdunes.org We know who not to vote for in the upcoming Supervisor race, but who are you endorsing? The fact that these candidates are so eager to sacrifice Sunset Dunes, regardless of cost or impact on quality of life, is crazy-making.

Frustrating that we live in an era where politicians can just lie to create whatever compelling-sounding argument they want.

Supervisor Wong claimed that creating Sunset Dunes doubled traffic injuries in the district. That sounds really bad, except it's also horse apples.

Recently, to justify his political stunt and waste SF voters’ time with a third ballot measure, Supervisor Alan Wong is willfully misrepresenting data. He’s been claiming that Sunset Dunes is causing “traffic injuries in District 4 to nearly double.” 🤦That’s patently false.
