First off, that’s amorphous SiO2. Second, sand is a grain size (62.5-2000 microns), not a chemical formula. Food additive silicon dioxide is typically nanometer-scale.

Ok now I’m down the rabbit hole of different ceramic coatings you can use to make it so it’s easier to clean mirrors, showers and sinks. I think a lot of these are SiO2 but I’m curious what ones are safe for kitchens and work well.
