I bought an extremely common mic (Shure SM57) off fb marketplace yesterday and the seller, a genial man in his 60s, unprompted gave me an extremely introductory lesson on microphones. "you can record lots of instruments with this. just point it at the instrument" thanks man I'll be sure to try that

you dont need to play all of the prequels before playing sm64, but i do recommend sm57 and sm58

Those stage mics at just about every event are not side address microphones. You have to speak into and not at the tube. Into. Not at the side of it.
If you speak at the side of an SM57/8, your voice is hitting a plastic wall, screwing you (and anyone listening) over.
