Today the price of Diesel on SPIMEX jumped up by a record 6,32% to 77 180 rubles per ton we didn't see such a movement when it came to diesel last year. Off SPIMEX prices are now well over 100 000 rubles per ton. There is a real and growing diesel shortage.

In case people think Belarus is doing Russia a favor by sending gasoline, the prices they are asking for are 111 000 rubles per ton of Ai-92 gasoline and 124 000 rubles per ton for Ai-95 and this is on SPIMEX. However it's lower than off SPIMEX Russian prices now.

In case people think Belarus is doing Russia a favor by sending gasoline, the prices they are asking for are 111 000 rubles per ton of Ai-92 gasoline and 124 000 rubles per ton for Ai-95 and this is on SPIMEX. However it's lower than off SPIMEX Russian prices now.
The Russian government will kill SPIMEX erh I mean will lower the amount of gasoline Russian refineries are obliged to sell on SPIMEX to 2% of the production. It was already lowered to 10% earlier from 15%. There will be no free trading of gasoline in Russia.

The St Petersburg commodities exchange SPIMEX has started offering for auction Ai-92 gasoline with quality as low as Euro-2 and Ai-95 and Ai-98 gasoline with quality as low as Euro-3.

Expanding the maximum increase per bid is likely an attempt to revive SPIMEX trading as prices there stopped being relevant to the overall market (Note from me: Oh so now the Russian government wants to revive SPIMEX trading, after it did everything possible to kill it? )

According to SPIMEX data between July 1st and 17th gasoline sales decreased by 47,8% year over year to 277 300 tons. Since the start of 2026 4,74 million tons of gasoline were sold on SPIMEX or 16,7% less than during the same time in 2026.

On SPIMEX on May 11th the price was 82 700 rubles per ton having gone up 14% since February 2026. However according to industry insiders the actual wholesale price inside Russia is 110 000 rubles per ton and only 3 railway cars worth of kerosene were sold at SPIMEX on June 1st.

SPIMEX was taken to the back of the shed by Sechin and Novak and shot. Turns out you don't need an exchange if you've stopped selling fuel freely.

As everyone should have probably expected after the introduction of price controls for Belarusian gasoline and diesel on SPIMEX Belarusian refineries decreased the volumes they sell via SPIMEXX 10 times and are now focusing on selling directly to customers.

Russian airlines are shedding light onto why a jet fuel ban was imposed as by the end of May airports like St Petersburg didn't have kerosene to refuel planes and there are practically no sales on SPIMEX as prices skyrocket suggesting there's a serious jet fuel shortage.

Sales of gasoline on SPIMEX dropped to a historic minimum for the existence of the commodities exchange to just 8 100 tons on July 8th 2026. Between July 1st and 8th overall sales were nearly half what they were the prior 7 days.

The wholesale price of AI-92 gasoline on the SPIMEX broke another record today reaching 74 336 rubles per ton. This is the 15th time this year it has broken a record despite the limit on price increases on SPIMEX.

In Mumransk region the only gas station in the village of Alakurtti has closed down as a result of the fuel shortage the region is suffering. The nearest other gas station is an hour and a half away and we know wholesale prices are 20 rubles above the SPIMEX prices.

A local independent gas station chain from Leningrad region is saying Kirishi Refinery, isn't shipping fuel, nor is Yaroslavl, prices on the depot wholesale market are over 110 000 rubles per ton of Ai-95 or more than 30 000 rubles higher than what they are on SPIMEX.

We're seeing stories about summer diesel in Russia that mirror gasoline stories from 2-4 weeks ago. Wholesale delivery takes over 30 days, off exchange small scale wholesale is traded at a 20 000 ruble premium, SPIMEX sales volumes down 25% due to Ukrainian drone strikes.
Refineries with 40 million tons of total refining capacity have restarted to some degree providing fuel to SPIMEX. According to Russian market insiders there has been an improvement of the situation to a degree as more capacity is being brought back online than taken off line.

That is not the case as some gas stations have waited for 2 months for fuel and complaints against SPIMEX mount for not enforcing contracts. And even Lukoil and Bashneft are unable to fully supply their own chains with fuel due Ukrainian strikes.
