SSCI needs to be on the WH about this tonight
April 4, 2025 at 2:49 AM
Shouldn’t Tulsi follow Joe Kent and quit today, before the SSCI open hearing on worldwide threats at which she’s supposed to testify tomorrow?
March 17, 2026 at 4:02 PM
These are all lies. Ask me how I know.

(Answer: I read the Mueller report and the SSCI report on Russian election interference, and I watched Durham come up with nothing except a Trump crime in Italy.)
get a load of this conspiracy word salad Grassley served just now on Fox. How can anyone follow this nonsense?

Would be good to get all the members of SSCI who voted to confirm her as DNI on the record about this reporting.
June 24, 2026 at 8:09 PM
Nice call back to the criminally overlooked SSCI report (Volume 5). They (Putin, in particular) are nothing if not consistent . . . and persistent.
Reminder: this is the same plan Russian operatives offered to Paul Manafort in exchange for their help getting Trump elected in 2016. (See Manafort’s testimony in the Senate Intelligence Committee’s report.)
After meeting with Witkoff yesterday, who said “offering Russia the 4 territories would be the fastest way to achieve ceasefire”..

⬇️

Reuters: Putin agrees to ceasefire if Ukraine surrenders the rest of Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, Luhansk & Donetsk (about 1 mln people; for some regions as much as 40%)

What other classified info is Hegseth sharing on Signal chats? Clearly, he can't be trusted to keep our military secrets—or our troops—safe.

We have Senate committees for a reason.

SSCI, SASC and SFRC must hold hearings to investigate this egregious breach and potential others.

Remember, Tulsi and Ratcliffe have another Threats hearing today (though in a far less competent Committee than SSCI, @jahimes.bsky.social's aggressive focus on this notwithstanding).
Atlantic publishes the details that Tulsi claimed under oath did not include specific attack information.

Amid the very exciting conflicts on the Signal chat, the SSCI hearing was rather interesting for the pushback on Trump's Russian capitulation by Cornyn and Moran, at least.
March 25, 2025 at 4:57 PM
I'm so old I remember when right wingers on SSCI almost rejected Tulsi Gabbard bc of her unwavering support for Ed Snowden.
March 14, 2025 at 6:52 PM
And to clarify, Trump would have to provide notice of the covert action "as soon as possible" or at least "in a timely fashion" to SSCI and HPSCI, but after that there is no ongoing reporting, AFAIK. /END

And John Solomon said, right before DiGenova was hired, that there'd be a massive release of the Russian investigation files. They also want all the SSCI files.

It would be interesting if some brave journalists would ask Marco Rubio weather he stands by his 2020 SSCI report co-authored with Mark Warner on Russia’s interference in the 2016 election rollcall.com/2020/08/18/s...
Senate report outlines 'grave' Russian threat in 2016 election probe
The Senate Intelligence Committee released its final report on Russian interference in the 2016 elections, detailing ties with the Trump campaign.

Funnily enough, I got the sense at her confirmation hearing that the chair of the SSCI also wanted to get rid of ODNI and that confirming her would further that objective.
The experiment failed. Abolish the office, preserve the functions that matter, and return intelligence to the professionals whose job is not to serve a party, a president’s ego, or a cable-news storyline, but the security of the republic.
Tulsi Gabbard’s Office Shouldn’t Exist
And her tenure in it proves exactly why.

I've been thinking something similar about Rubio. Somewhere between 2020 (when Rubio let SSCI finish the Russian investigation that Richard Burr started before his alleged stock cheating was selectively investigated) and this year, Trump grew confident that Rubio would never cross him.
Been thinking about that Joni Ernst story in @propublica.org yesterday. (www.propublica.org/article/joni...) First, that in another epoch, it would have been an immediate career-killer. Second, and more important in this epoch, it was implied in coverage of her Hegseth switch that she was either 1/x

I expected HPSCI to do worse than SSCI, tho @jahimes.bsky.social and especially @crow.house.gov were great.

Several questions went unasked:
1) Was Tulsi texting from her personal phone while in Japan and Thailand?
2) Did Tulsi and Ratcliffe delete texts? If so, how did they comply w/FRA?

In addition to opening a seat for DeSantis to fill with a nutjob MAGAt, this also removes Rubio from SSCI and puts -- oh, I dunno, Tom Cotton? -- in charge.

Can't have anyone sane overseeing Kash Patel's work at, say, CIA.
I think too people are overlooking the distinct possibility that Rubio's appt is less about giving him State than giving someone else his Senate seat. With that said ... talkingpointsmemo.com/edblog/first...

Side note: Yesterday's SSCI hearing benefitted from fact that two GOP members (Collins and Risch) were not there, meaning there wasn't the hangover of GOPers trying to run PR.

There is here, 3 straight right wingers running interference for this misconduct.

The NCTC spox just replied:

"I see you have already published. I wanted to flag that Mr. Kent's hearing in front of SSCI is this afternoon at 2:30 p.m., and I would encourage you to watch that."

It would just be easier if they had responded with an explanation.

@steadystatevets.bsky.social The Steady State, a group of national security veterans from CIA, State, DOD, and the military, sent this letter to SSCI and HPSCI leaders tonight, warning of the certain detrimental impact to national security that will result from the purge at CIA.

he could lose his SSCI assignment, which is arguably more valuable than exposing any one particular surveillance scandal
April 17, 2026 at 1:26 AM
Not everyone in Congress needs briefed, I agree. But everyone on SSCI, SASC and SFRC as well as their equivalents in House should be. If we pissed off Iran and left materials in-tact; a lot of people could be (are) in danger and Congress needs to be informed. Classified briefings are a must!
June 25, 2025 at 1:28 AM
Loads of SSCI staffers are delusional lmao.

OGC talking to HPSCI & SSCI:
July 12, 2024 at 10:43 PM
One detail I keep thinking about is that Mike Rounds and Todd Young, both of whom have some complaints abt Trump, both said they had Qs abt Signal chat for closed SSCI session at which Dems asked public questions.

So there may have been more interesting discussions in that closed hearing.
March 31, 2025 at 3:49 AM
Further, framing it as whether Russia “changed” votes glosses over its primary effort, which was to -siphon away- votes from *Democrats*, primarily by targeting Black Americans (thus is Vol. II of the SSCI report). More here open.substack.com/pub/asharang...
