I'm actually surprised Nintendo haven't attempted to bring back Startropics in some capacity.
Sadly my Uncle who works at Nintendo passed away. He bequeathed to me the way to unlock Sonic and Tails in Smash Bros Melee, plans for a gritty reboot of Startropics, Wii that can play PS2 games, and Nintendogs M-rated illegal breeds edition.

I took a video of the end, but BlueSky doesn't have spoiler tags. 🤣
^I finished sometime between 1 and 3 hours.
Maybe i'll go back to StarTropics too, when i'm not busy. 😶

That doesn't just apply to Playstation franchises either. I've been waiting on new Startropics, Lufia, and Dino Crisis entries, to name just a few, for a long time now.

Beat this on stream the other day, and... yeah, I still love this one! The controls take some getting used to, and the difficulty will make it frustrating to some....... but GOD, is it rewarding when you sit down and get your way through it. One of the best games for the NES!

Oh wow, it's been a long time since I played StarTropics. Good game, idiotic copyright protection. I heard about so many destroyed instructions getting it wet to reveal the info

(in my adult life, maybe my favorite gaming memory is @musicologess.bsky.social asking me to watch a video with her only to reveal that the final track in Startropics had an extra voice we had never heard. It was as if she had time-traveled and given my eight year-old self a gift. I was dumbstruck.)

Worth a note that I received Startropics and Final Fantasy (the original) on the same 1992 Christmas morning -- that's in conversation for the most important gaming day of my life.
I wanted to list Willy the Worm Part II: The Long Journey Home rather than game 1, but this tool could not find it. :(

I'm surprised to see only one Survival Horror game here, especially from someone who clearly adores the genre...oh wait, sorry. Just saw Startropics there. Two survival horror games is still pretty small though.

more traditional style game. Probably not realizing that everyone would fall in love with this art style and immediately want more. I do hope we get more games in this art style even outside of the LoZ series. Like StarTropics and the Mother series would be amazing with this look imo

SPECIAL SUNDAY STREAM!!!
Tonight, I stream some more StarTropics and I don't stop until I've beaten the game.
I estimated about three hours for this, but if it takes longer, I keep going.
Stream starts at 5pm CEST. Hope to see you there =)

There was something about the diagonal movement in the action areas that just felt weird to me. I get that it gives you more control over Mike but it felt so stiff.
I didn't DISLIKE StarTropics 2, mind you, but I enjoyed the first more.
They both have fantastic music though!
