For many years, it was documented that Pakardia was home to two suids: the feral boar native and the native dire boar. As conservative Pakardiant are reluctant to let specimens leave the island as it interrupts their reincarnation cycle, study and verification is difficult.

Stable carbon+oxygen isotopes reveal a grassland-dominated ecosystem with substantial local diversity. #Bovids 🐄 were specialized C₄ grazers, #cervids 🦌 ranged from grazers to mixed feeders, & #suids 🐖recorded strong C₃ vegetation signals of wooded, riparian, &/or seasonally wetter habitats.

Some of the reconstruction is very Hollywood: we suspect they caught and ate North American camels, but they were omnivores, with a diet likely high in roots, berries, and smaller animals.
The Family contains a number of extinct groups who lived 40MYA-20MYA, ranging widely in size.

I've met too many feral hogs, man. Still love suids, but I have no illusions about their willingness to eat me. They're one of the only animals that's every really tried to take me out.
My dad was the exact same way. “I felt bad because they were smart. Then I kept pigs. Now we must eat them before they destroy us.”
Another buddy of mine, who loves every single animal in creation, particularly the weird stinky smelly ugly ones, tried so hard to love them and they broke her.

IMO large bovines are caught somewhere between prey items like cervids/equids/suids/antelope and the truly gigantic rhinos/hippos/elephants. For the most part they don't seem to be preferred prey, but they're no doubt killable (to the point where some populations of big cat may specialize on them).

Yeah, true. Suids are very adaptable and extremely hardy. They establish almost anywhere given the chance and are hard to get back in check once they have.
