Bloke in a new office has a 50 second rant about superannuation tax breaks
The federal government's stalled changes to superannuation rules would make the nation's super system fairer, at a time when so many Australians are doing it tough.

The changes would double the tax on super balances of $3m and over, from 15% to 30%. It’s a small change but would make things fairer

Australia has the second lowest age pension in the OECD, and the 5th highest level of retirees living in poverty.

And all the while we give the richest 10% $20bn in tax breaks for their superannuation.

My column.

Tim Wilson has already started up his superannuation tax war with Labor

Tim Wilson as usual won’t tell u the facts..

Fact: Superannuation over $3m will be taxed at a higher rate & only the amount above $3m

Fact: Big super amounts are a tax haven for rich ppl

Superannuation wasn’t meant to be a tax dodge for people with over 3 million dollars to spare.

And this tbh is the best outcome - using Trusts, companies and superannuation can *really* muddy the waters on how much tax he might have paid.
Dutton's property investments... A reminder, on this property he made $3,675,000. But because you get a 50% discount on capital gains, he only had to pay tax on $1,837,500.

That tax discount each year costs around $22bn - of which $18bn goes to the richest 10%

From the AFR's analysis, the Government's superannuation tax changes would result in someone who increased their super by $1,180,000, to a total sum of $3,180,000 would be paying an extra...$1,528 in tax.

The superannuation tax changes are a good idea and would make our tax system fairer. #auspol
Hilariously, the AFR is showing just how absurd is the scare campaign against the super tax changes.

They give an eg where someone's super goes from $2m to $3.18m in a year!

Yep a $1.18m increase.

How much extra tax?

$1,528!

OMG!! THAT'S OUTRAG... err... oh actually that's bugger all
