SGR 1830, located in the constellation Scutum at an estimated distance of about 13,000 ly, was discovered on 10 Oct. 2020 after a short, soft burst (from its direction) was detected with the Swift/BAT instrument (Page et al. 2020), which found out that the object was rotating every 10.4 s.
