I've joined a few friends and had a lovely trip down the SWML.
It was then time to do a new ferry crossing over to Yarmouth IoW!
From there we have a look around the island, with our first stop being Alum Bay Needles!

There is, it's called Crossrail 2 but without the long tunnels in South London. It's fine to just build Vic-KX with above-ground connections to the SWML slow tracks.

If you run all the services on the Slow lines into Euston as a local stopping pattern, and reserve the Fast lines for semi-fast services (since the intercity ones will go on HS2), you can run it more like the SWML, which has over 40 trains per hour, compared with the WCML which runs about 20

Headed out to London today and decided to venture onto the SWML once again!
My intentions being to get a 458/5 out of Waterloo and a /4 back. I got the /4, but the /5 I was meant to be on was late and ended up running fast instead. 🙃
Saw some other /5s though thankfully, along with 455868 & 444019!

Will be back out tomorrow for my first 2025 Train Filming. Start off with SWML which will be my last one for quite a while. After that be heading off to new stations. Which will be Oxford, Banbury, Leamington Spa.

In Wales we can celebrate some UK Gov capex on rail - esp on the SWML with the new "Burns stations" or "Metro Impact Study stations" as I prefer to call them! I penned this a few years ago re the wider vison for integrated transport along the SWML corridor...

It's good news but in truth Bristol really needs a massive investment in a metro style system. In the meantime we await the Welsh Government's proposal for new stations on the SWML which should lead to a 4 tph service on the line from Parkway to Temple Meads.
