I think Kirk is nervous about Saavik taking the ship out because he doesn't want to become one of those annoying TOS admirals standing behind the command post micromanaging instead of letting the young people do their jobs.

That was actually the original intention! And why they killed off Spock! They were going to spin off with David & Saavik instead but people wanted the OG crew back more than they wanted that so here we are!

Back then, I really thought Saavik was going to replace him going forward

Saavik is being a menace during cuddle time

Watch the scene on Vulcan in TMP, or Spock talking to Saavik in WOK and you'll see they're clearly speaking English. But it works, and the scene isn't bogged down by an actor dutifully reciting their tedious homework assignment.

Saavik is so tiny I expected to be anxiously checking where she is every time I go to turn on the washing machine but I have not had to do that coz every time I do laundry she stands next to me with her paws on my leg going 👀 "what are we doing?"
September 27, 2026 at 11:13 AM
In the shot I'm thinking of... while the klingon is standing behind saavik he's angled towards David and looking at David. But hey ho, I'm happy that the consensus is that David jumped in to save Saavik. A really strong moment and a favourite scene!

Nice to see they combined the 4th and 8th Doctor by putting the scarf on Tom McGann.

Also, when did Saavik from Star Trek 3 travel with the Doctor?

SAAVIK: But how could they have evolved so quickly?

I don't even think it was ambiguous. The Klingon was right behind Saavik when the blades came out and David had to jump to tackle him.
September 27, 2026 at 4:13 AM
Yes, and there isn't even a mention of Khan. Plus a single line to explain why Saavik and David are on a different ship.

One eternal mystery remains, though: where did all that extra damage on the Enterprise come from?!
September 26, 2026 at 7:25 PM
Funny thing is that I saw this before Wrath of Khan so Saavik is always Robin Curtis for me. I don't remember being at all put off that I hadn't seen II!
September 26, 2026 at 7:11 PM
Some really powerful scenes. I think it's ambiguous as filmed, but I will always argue that the Klingon was going to kill Saavik and David intervened.

So this person is blocked, and for the record: there isn’t enough money in the world to pay me to do such a thing.

Hi Saavik,

I'm reaching out because I'm looking for astrophysicists to help evaluate the depth and rigor of AI-generated research work in astrophysics freelance, remote, flexible around teaching/research.
Open to a quick call to discuss on the opportunity

I mean this completely seriously: someone needs to get a camera in front of Tuberville and ask him pointed questions about his sexual habits and preferences. If he wants to make other peoples’ sex lives public information and a condition of their employment…well, sauce for the goose, Mr. Saavik.
Tommy Tuberville: Many airline pilots, flight attendants, and air traffic controllers are part of the furry community. It's terrifying.

Who they poll and where matters so a -10% modifier isn't unrealistic. Besides, everything the GOP/trump does related to numbers is always on some whack curve.

Sauce for the goose Mr. Saavik.

Saavik broke my Nines statue and I'm trying not to cry about it coz I can glue it but mannnn 😭

I'm shocked he made the cover and not Saavik or the whale lady
September 22, 2026 at 9:19 PM
Saavik has a good one at the start of the film, too.
September 22, 2026 at 6:04 PM
And I think Valeris is the better choice. Saavik was not the character - even with her experience on Genesis - to become an traitor because of the Klingon empire.
And to be honest, I had trouble with Valeris, too. Vulcans were shown often to be very neutral when it did come to conflicts between/2
