Well, it’s a free country. Imagine you see a group of people playing tug of war where if one team wins they’ll kill 4 innocent puppies and if the other team wins they’ll kill 5. Would you not want to join in on the former side, even though it’s not a “good” outcome? One is going to win either way.

It never occurs to them that if that was genuinely the case why wait for over 4 years and sacrafice thousands of Russian mens lives needlessly. That is not patience, it's strategic stupidity and incompetence. Which to be fair is kinda on brand for Russia

I remember reading a book about Truman & how he came to pick Alben Barkley as his running mate in '48. Somebody had to agree to be on the ticket, just as somebody had to be the 1st guy off the 1st boat on D-Day. Barkley was that guy.
