Taking the KTX to Gumi? Its KTX stop is Gimcheon(Gumi) Station, in the next city over, not Gumi Station. A limousine bus runs to downtown Gumi every 30-40 min for 3,200 won, or take an ITX-Saemaeul, ITX-Maum or Mugunghwa from Seoul Station straight to Gumi Station in about 3 hours. #KoreaTravel

Mugunghwa-ho is the cheapest and stops almost everywhere; ITX-Saemaeul and ITX-Cheongchun are mid-tier, faster, and still much cheaper than KTX.

Zwischen den Bahnhöfen Daejeon und Dongdaegu auf der Gyeongbu-Linie und zwischen den Bahnhöfen Seodaejeon und Iksan auf der Honam-Linie wird der Zugbetrieb bis Donnerstag Mitternacht eingestellt. Der gesamte Zugverkehr auf der Janghang-Linie zwischen Cheonan und Iksan ist ebenfalls eingestellt und wird voraussichtlich erst nach 18:00 Uhr wieder aufgenommen, da in den betroffenen Gebieten Reparaturarbeiten im Gange sind. KORAIL und das Ministerium für Land, Infrastruktur und Transport erklärten am Mittwoch, dass der Betrieb regulärer Züge wie der Mugunghwa- und ITX-Saemaeul-Züge aus Sicherheitsgründen eingestellt oder angepasst werde. Die Gyeongbuk-Linie zwischen Gimcheon und Yeongju bleibt bis Mittwoch Mitternacht eingestellt, während die Janghang-Linie und die Chungbuk-Linie bis 18:00 bzw. 12:00 Uhr eingestellt bleiben. I used to think all Busan to Seoul trains were the same until I compared KTX vs ITX-Saemaeul. One takes 2h 18min, the other 4h 30min. But here's what surprised me: the slower option isn't always the budget choice. The fare system is more complex than I expected.

KTX/ITX services are EMUs, but there are also many locomotive-hauled Mugunghwa-ho and Saemaeul-ho services; most of these are electric, but trains coming from the Janghang line (sharing tracks with part of Line 1) are diesel as that line is currently unelectrified.

Saemaeul comes with lots of complementary banchan/side dishes that are being refilled. The corn tea is free too! Alt text for descriptions. #food #koreanfood
Side dishes: Lettuce, perilla leaves, green cheonyang chili, salad, soy potatoes, aubergine side dish, sprinkle onion muchim, kimchi, and a green herb side dish. (I thought it’d be spinach but it wasn’t). Sesame oil-salt-pepper dipand sssmjang dip. Kimchi, green herb side dish, pickled radish and seaweed soup “miyeokguk” Charcoal inserted. Ogyeopsal (5-layered pork belly) in the process of being barbequed. The still raw pork neck (moksal) just about visible on the left.
