#SafetyInSolidarity
Local Kahanists have threatened our Palestinian and Muslim neighbors, saying they plan to come to Bay Ridge on Wednesday. These are violent Jewish fascists, and as anti-fascist Jews, we will be there to stand with our neighbors in a large Jewish contingent.

The Jewish Left does more to try to ensure Jewish safety than any of these legacy institutions cozying up to fascists. When we say #SafetyInSolidarity, we mean it literally. We have a shared stake. There aren’t enough of us to try to go it alone even if we wanted to (& we don’t! Pluralism is good!)
One thing I find terrifying about this political moment is that Jewish existence in multicultural democracy depends upon solidarity with other marginalized people. If institutional Jewry is cozying up to the state machinery putting minorities in camps—what room is there for solidarity?

#SafetyInSolidarity is more than a quid pro quo expectation that our neighbors will have our backs if we have theirs. It’s the idea that a pluralistic, democratic society where all minority groups have equal rights & protections—no exceptions—creates the best conditions for safety for all of us.
