We have battles pretty clearly depicted in Spanish Mesolithic rock painting (12,000-7,000BP(=before present) or so).

We also have very early massacre sites, e.g. Jebel Sahaba (c. 14,000BP), Talheim (c. 7,000BP), Ofnet (c. 8,500BP) with clear evidence of mass executions of bound prisoners. 4/

But we can push back further. We have early neolithic and even mesolithic massacre sites showing pretty clear evidence of warfare at places like Talheim (5,000BC), Ofnet (6,500BC), and Jebel Sahaba (c. 11,500BC). The latter puts warfare slightly before our earliest tool evidence for agriculture.

Jebel Sahaba is a cemetery complex that shows recurrent violence between social groups—or, you know, warfare.

It is at least 13,000 years old and in the middle of the Nubian Desert.

Are your colleagues wrong about some part of that? Then why aren't you publishing that and taking all of their jobs?

Older, in fact. The mass grave at Jebel Sahaba is dated to c. 11,400 BC and shows clear evidence of violence.

Individual remains with evidence of weapon-based wounds are even older, such as the Neanderthal at Shanidar 3 (c. 40,000 years ago), killed by a spear to the chest.
